privacy

what we keep when you have an account

• your email address, and the name and picture you choose to add.
• if you choose a username, we keep it, and the names you used before for 14 days, with when you changed them.
• how you signed in (email code, Google or Apple) and how you first found emit.
• the tracks you upload and the links you make, until you delete them or two days after they expire.
• the days you send something or go live.
• a play count for each link. the count doesn't say who played it.

what we keep about listeners

• listeners don't need an account, and we never ask who they are, unless they write to us for help.
• like every website, our server keeps a standard log of visits, including IP addresses, for up to about a month, then deletes it.

emails

• we email you sign-in codes and messages about your account.
• we only add you to our mailing list if you tick "keep me posted about emit and Streaky Audio" when you sign up. you can unsubscribe from any email.
• if you write to us with the help button, we get your message, your email, the kind of page you were on and your browser.

backups

backup copies of deleted files are kept for about a month, then deleted. backups of account records are kept for up to 12 weeks.

what we don't do

• we don't sell your information.
• we don't put tracking in sign-in or account emails. our newsletter, if you ask for it, records when it's opened.
• we don't use advertising cookies.

your rights

you can ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it, at any time: hello@emit.audio. if you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

you can delete your account yourself in the studio, under account & settings, or ask us at hello@emit.audio.

when you delete your account, your tracks, links, pictures, name and sign-in go at once, and links you sent stop working. your username is held for 14 days so no one else can take it straight away, then anyone can. we keep a note that the account number was deleted, so it can never be opened again, and nothing else about you. backup copies of deleted files are kept for about a month, and backups of account records for up to 12 weeks, then deleted. anything you bought from streaky audio, and your plugin licences, aren't affected. if you are on our mailing list, you can leave it from any email.
